"Coaching is the most important servant leadership element in helping people accomplish their goals"- Ken Blanchard, Bill Hybels, and Phil Hughes - Leadership by the Book
"Coaching is destined to be the leadership approach of the 21st Century..."- James Belasco - Coaching for Leadership
Life Coaching, as a profession, has sprung up within the last few decades in response to the cry of individuals caught up in a society characterized by exploding technology, massive information overload, job uncertainty and a harried lifestyle. People in our modern–day culture often find themselves too busy, too hurried, and too tired... longing for a settled sense of personal purpose, choice, freedom, and rest.
The coaching concept has existed for a long time in different forms, but historically has been associated with sports, business, and the arts. The job of the coach has always been to discover, draw out, and develop a person's best; to help them discern and move forward in their chosen areas of pursuit.
Christian life coaching is a safe, trusting, collaborative relationship which utilizes a redeemed understanding of a person's past to discern a God–inspired vision for their future. This leads to Spirit–enabled action in the present, accompanied by an abiding sense of Christ's presence.
Christian life coaching is about reading the map of your life, as God has sovereignly charted it; discovering the landscape, pointing toward a preferred destination; and courageously moving towards it with passion and purpose.
When placed in the context of how people live their lives within the challenging culture in which we live, coaches and clients can begin to recognize the value of Christian Life coaching. It encompasses WHO we are, WHAT we believe in, and HOW we choose to live out the implications in all areas of life.
Factoring a faith perspective into the equation provides the foundational confidence that our lives already possess unique value and specific purpose given each of us by an all–powerful Creator and loving Redeemer. Once we know Him in personal relationship, the call and challenge is finding out who we are in Christ, and how we are to live in this world with Him. Given the confusion and chaos of modern–day life, this is where a Christian Life Coach can help navigate the journey.
Is this type of Spirit-guided partnership something you could profit from at this stage in your life?

Christian life coaching is not the same as counseling. The focus of Christian life coaching is on movement toward a future vision rather than wrestling with issues from the past. A Christian life coach guides a journey through exploration and learning from the past, often reflecting on how what we have learned from the past is revealed in our present. This exploration reveals what is needed to move into the future in a spiritually-healthy manner. By exploring the past from a distance, a Christian life coach can guide you into the future God has designed for you.
Faith-oriented people who want to become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ make up the majority of a Christian life coach’s clientele. They comprise men or women from early adulthood on up from all walks of life including, professionals, stay-at-home moms, students, small business owners, church and parachurch leaders, executives, tradesmen, and many others.
Individuals who seek out Christian life coaching are ready to assume full responsibility for their lives and long to live them out of a comprehensive sense of passion and purpose. They are increasingly humble people who recognize their fears, doubts, and self-limiting patterns. They are open to facing the issues that hinder them head-on, confident that they have much value to contribute in Christ and desiring to do so for the benefit of the world around them.
Most of us have been told we have potential, but few have had the opportunity to seek out that potential in an environment where we are recognized and believed in-especially when we doubt it ourselves. A good Christian life coach can serve as your guide, advisor, mentor, supporter, sounding board, and accountability partner to point you toward Jesus. Successful Christian life coaching can help you do what God created you to do, and go where He wants you to go.
